Joseph started out a unique department store with the ideology to change shopping forever. They brought Kenzo and Castelbajac to the worlds attention by stocking their designs along side many other brands.
Now Joseph has designers all of its own that work under label ‘Joseph’. Under the creative direction of Louise Trotter, Joseph presents a high contemporary ready-to-wear collection with a strong core of luxury essentials.
Mark Thomas, head designer of men’s wear for Joseph’s had one goal in mind when creating his first collection for the company, ‘The Iconic’s’. This goal was to remind the customers of the brands DNA of luxury. To do that, he worked with three themes, black/white, masculine/feminine, and Anglo/Franco and Thomas took inspiration for this collection from a mix of Skinheads, their pre-fathers, The Mods and the modern day London youth. “I wanted to combine London youth culture of skinheads and mods with an elegant, sophisticated French aesthetic,” Thomas said. “My guiding lights were fabric, cut, and fit.” He showed this using four wardrobe mainstays, the peacoat, the jean jacket, the parka, and the jean.
